A Dark & Delicious Evening

Dark and Delicious. The title alone evokes all sorts of deviant thoughts, and it appeals to this particular Deviant wine hunter, plenty. Organized by the fine folks of P.S. I Love You, this 6th annual event helps cater to two needs: lovely red wines that can sooth a winter-stricken soul, and encourage fans to bring friends along with them to try a wine that isn’t as popular as other wines out on the mainstream market.

Another great thing about going to events like these, is that for a small amount of “investment”‘ you get to try some amazing wines from a number of producers, and some beautiful bites provided by chefs looking to properly pair their food w/ beautiful wines, in the hope that the combination will be something to knock your socks off.

Aside from the great wines I sampled this night, I also learned that Petit Sirah IS a cross of two varietals: Peloursin and Syrah. Now we’re talking about an all around experience – great wines, great bites, and education.

Of the many wines I tried, the three you’ll soon see written up include Gustafson Family Vineyards East Ridge Block 2009 Petit Sirah, Fieldstone Winery & Vineyard 2008 Petit Sirah Port, and a vertical tasting by Twisted Oak Winery (the 2004, 2006, and 2009 appealing most to me)

As for bites, be sure to take a moment or two to enjoy the food prepared by Chef Tyler Stone, DK Catering (Rhonert Park), and you just can’t go wrong with all the selections of Marin French Cheese Company from Petaluma.

Pass this moment of deviance along to others...
